Online Singing Telegrams | Let Famous Pop Stars Sing What You Mean
April 23, 2007

There are days when email writing just suffers. And certainly, those days, where you have nothing more to say than a mindless “Duh, hey, how’s it going?”, happen to the best of us.
But thanks to Sweden Radio, the arbiter of all things hip, I’ve discovered Let Them Sing It For You, a tool that pumps out your email sentiments word for word, however trite, by sampled performers like Lionel Ritchie, Chris Isaak, and Roy Orbison… all in one single breath. In fact, the most inuninspiring and ineloquent notes transform into veritable pop epics with this singing telegram tool. Come on, it’s hard not to get excited. Type your sentence in the box, and let your ears be tickled pink.
Of course not all words are logged into the system, which makes for some entertaining pieces (even the contraction “you’re” gives the program a hernia). However, if you work within the limits of a standard pop song (i.e., use the word “love”, “I would do anything” and “I won’t do that”), you’ll be fine.
So, here you go, ladies and gentlemen. Check out my submission to Sweden Radio’s Let Them Sing It For You, and listen to the heartfelt greeting I’ve painstakingly written for you, my one or two loyal fans.
I can only hope you will script something just as profound in return.
